I'm big on FF, which includes Mystic Quest, CC, and many other side games (Can't wait to get Dyssidia!), but does not include the multiplayer noobfests. :P

Big... in-depth analysis, I was hoping for a heated and incredibly nerdy debate, and you... like some Final Fantasy? :big_laugh:

I absolutely love FF! I must say that I've never been able to beat a game though. They take a lot of work and I guess I'm just not cut out for it. I've almost beaten a couple of them, but I just haven't reached the end of one :( Sometimes they do seem repetative, but they each definitely have their own combat system. And each time it improves significantly. I can't wait for XIII to come out. It's the first time a hardcore girl is the main character.

Some are Okay seems about right, I mean FF X-2? Even FF XII wasn't up to the usual standards really, and the online one didn't really count in my books. As for the Tactics series, I get the feeling that if you have played one you have played all of them, the one on DS was just boring. I just don't understand how a company can release a ridiculous amount of good rpgs like everything before FF X-2, then just screw up really quickly like a dog on crack.

I've only ever played FF8, a little of FF7, FF6 for the GBA, FF3 for the DS, FFX and FFX-2 for PS2... and FF9 also. But from what little I've played of most of them, FF8 is my favorite if only for the characters. If you think about it, Squall was Emo before emo was popular! XD
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes...

Never noticed that about Squall before, but you are most definitely correct abut hi being emo before emo was around. I remember I used to get annoyed with him always being such a dick sometimes, now I know why.

*cough* Emo's been around since the 80's.
Image
I've at least played part of a few of the games. My opinion on the series as a whole, somewhat discounting the direct sequels, is that they do make the games as unique as possible while still including enough common themes to justify being a series. That said, obviously I like some games better then others, as some fit my particular tastes in gameplay better then others.

Six was the best one, cause the star wars movies I was watching at the time this game came out (before prequels harmed a franchise) taught me that a rebellion vs an empire was the best plot ever.

But six had the best hero and villain. The villain being the mad clown general of murder, Kefka. Which is essentially the Joker with an army behind him and he's just lovely. Whether it be poisoning his own men, or killing the rival general that looks like they're going to join your party, or making a town full of orphans, or just a town full of corpses, Kefka knew evil. Evil was him. One of the few villains who could be convincing that he wanted to destroy the world, not conquer it and still be a threat beyond isolated murder incidents. And according to the townspeople in Vector he was such a nice boy before they started experimenting on him.

And not to detract from any other heroes in six, cause many of them were awesome (Terra, Edgar, Sabin, Setzer, Celes, Cyan, Gau... the list just goes on) but Locke Cole was the ultimate good guy. A 'thief' who prefers the term treasure hunter was doing the tomb raider gig years before Lara Croft ever got around to it, the bandana and vest combo worked, and his style was just fun to play even if his big move was 'capture' allowing him to both steal and attack, I just kept him in the party cause he was fun for the plot.... and as I got older and wasn't playing the game in a time when my age didn't have a second digit any longer realized he had better stat growth than ANYONE. Dude was the man.

i played final fantasy alot growing up... as for gameplay and strategy... FF12 had me on edge... as did FF7's weapon series... but the storyline that hit my heart the most was FF10, meeting someone that changes your life and then leaves it, really hurts, espescially if you love them. they grew on each other, and me.

anyway *sniff* i think ff12 was a little off, but it was still great, just hard to juggle commands, and they dare offer a no pause menu... HA!
overall i liked FFX the best,

I really like FFIII, IV, VII, VIII, X. FF7 was the first RPG I ever played, and I really loved it, it's the game that introduced me to the wonderful world of RPGs. I liked the class system in III, and the story is pretty interesting in all of the ones I listed except for III. I especially enjoyed the story in FFX.

Man, I loved Final Fantasy....until 13-2 and Lightning Returns. Those two games literally have me disliking nearly the entire franchise unless FF 15 can restore my like of it. FFX by far is my absolute favorite aside from the later games.
