I have to say I think that Maleficent was the greatest CLASSIC Disney villain. People have made a lot of good comments on Scar, but in my opinion, while he was awesome... he was also a coward, compared to everyone else, in the list. He was charismatic and extremely smart, but he was also lazy. He was pretty much THE bad guy. And he was also reeeally good at covering his tracks, and making things look like an accident, and the whole making Simba blame him-self for what Scar him-self did, was pure genius. But all the same, he was over confident.

Now Maleficent... she is one fairy you didn't want to mess with. She knew it, the kingdom knew it, and not only that, she could PROVE it. She was powerful. And she wasn't like any of the others, she didn't want to take over the world, she didn't want to gain more power. She wanted to keep the respect she had earned, and deserved. If a princess had to die to make her point, then so be it, sorry royal family, its your own fault. The princess wouldn't have kept the kingdom anyways.
And not only did Maleficent curse the princess, she followed through. She made sure that the girl would find a spinning wheel, and when she realized one of the silly good fairies had turned it into a sleep curse... She did something about it! And not only did she make thorns rise up from the ground, and make it nearly impossible to reach the princess, she went, her-self, to make sure no one silly enough would try. And she wasn't just in her weak fairy form, but she turned into a dragon! If the prince had tried to attack her in her fairy form, he had a shield that would block any spells.... but with a dragon, he had a fight on his hands, even with his enchanted sword +10 of Fairy Power.
Think about it this way... you have three good fairies, and one bad fairy... and the three good fairies can only change the bad fairy's curse, they can't break it. Only true love can break it, which, in my humble opinion, just shows how powerful she was.

And before someone comments about the Queen's potion, the Queen tried to kill Snow White out of pure vanity and jealousy. She wasn't feared and respected like Maleficent. She was the Queen, you had to obey her. She didn't care about her step-daughter, at all, until she become the most beautiful. Shoot, she couldn't even keep a woodsman's loyalty. She just wasn't good enough. So she had to resort to a disguise and poison, true she went her-self to do it... but that's because she didn't have the power to command someone else to do so. And she couldn't change back! She was driven over a cliff by cutesy deer and dwarves, who weren't even harden warriors, they were miners! The worst they could do was swing a pick and hope to hit something other then their fellow dwarves... As for the poison itself, it cost her, her beauty that she had been so vain about, and still it didn't actually kill her step-daughter, it only put her to sleep! At least Maleficent had actually put a death curse on her princess....

Oh and Maleficent's crow... think James Bond villains, and the Austin Power villain, and most other evil genius types... they have cats, or fish (or sharks), they pamper and care for. And Maleficent was a fairy, they're connected to nature, so it makes sense. Plus he might have been a familiar, which adds to her power.

And I'm done ^.^'

THANK YOU!! :D

Lady J, you hit the nail on the head.

Oh, and back to the Jungle Book, there can really only be one villain. Sure there can be more than one bad guy, but traditionally there is only one, and Shere Khan was it. Everyone else is just.... not worth mentioning.

News to me.

Shere Kahn was easiliest the most dangerous villian, but Louie was the coolest villain. He had a swinging band. That makes him the greatest villian to me.

Not sure if Louie was a villain or not, but he was definitely my favorite character in mowgli when I was achild, I remember I liked him even more than mowgli himself...

This was also my late father's favorite cartoon and favorite character as he liked Louis Prima and other very oldie singers very much...

I love King Louie... he is one of the coolest character that Disney ever created :)

I agree with what you. Maleficent always terrified me. I actually recall not wanting to watch the film because of her.

Now, who do I think is the COOLEST villain? Hades from Hercules. That guy was fabulous. But Maleficent is, undoubtedly, the scariest classic Disney villain in my eyes.

And this is why I love Scar too.
The quality of my posts is inversely proportional to the amount of RPs I am in. Currently, it is at the number: 3.

Grey wrote:Claude Frollo. This guy not only killed an innocent woman, nearly killed her baby, locked up said baby in a tower, but he also persecuted gypsies on a daily basis. What takes the cake for me though is the villain song he sings, you know, the "look at me, I'm evil!" song that half the villains sing in their movies. This guy basically sings about how he wants to bone this hot gypsy or else kill her and send her to the pits of hell. Now that's crazy! Seriously, youtube the song if you never seen the movie.

By far the best Disney villain. It was only a year or so ago that I rewatched the film and realised just how horrible that song actually was! When I was younger I just saw pretty colours and a lady made out of fire.

Coolest villain as others have said has to be Hades!

Classic villain for me has to be Scar for reasons plenty of other people have stated.

I have to say Ursula was a close second, I was utterly petrified of her.

Lion King is one of the only Disney movies that's ever made me cry(more than once from start to finish), and the only one i can still watch and get into at this age. I can watch some, but not really get into them.
Lion King was a master piece.

And Scar was no angel, he had Mufasa killed, so in my eyes, just having a death scene to boast your evilness and badassery isn't enough to give you the title of greatest villain.
It's no suprise to me that Scar is dominating the poll.

One of the villians that I'm surprised isn't up there, is Hexxus from Ferngully. This remains to be one of my all time favorites right beside of Loin King and Fox and the Hound.

Fern Gully isn't Disney :)

At least, I'm pretty sure it isn't.

I feel like a dumbass now. I guess I should pay attention before doing something like that.

Ugh, I was once afraid of the witch from snow white, when I was like, four years old. x.x I used to go to my parents room and pretend to blow my nose in the scene when she gave snow white the apple. D: It's not the evilness that scarred me, it was the nose. xD

Meh, my vote would have gone to Hades from Hercules, but instead it went to Jaffar.

He represents the most human of villainy; ambition and pride.

Hercules is not considered "classic", so it was not on the list.

my vote would have to be for Scar, well just because he was a decent evil mastermind, but there was a moment when he was just dumb

Thus is the nature of all Disney villains, Brash. They have to have that momentary laspe of coolness at least once in the movie. :)
