Male and Female

We all enjoy our role-plays; being different people or races, in different places and times. We can change so much of ourselves during our role-play time; our height, our age, our stength or intelligence... but what about our sex? Have you ever played a role-play game as a member of the opposite sex?

I've got to be honest about this, the thought hasn't really crossed my mind...........When I play, I find it easier to play the characters that appeal to me, and it has just never appealed to me to play a woman.

When I have tried, the character turned into a man-hating feminist that had a major persecution complex because of her beard :)

I'm content playing either - perhaps that's my 'lesbianity' coming out. I can mould a character to what the story needs - male or female. It's not you personally, it's an invention. Doesn't really make a difference, whatever your preference.

I agree with you that it's not a preference thing, it's just that I feel that if you can't play a certain character type well - whether it's a mage, a thief or a woman is immaterial - then maybe it's best if you don't play them........ And I can't play female characters (or thieves for that matter) :)

My main characters are always female, though I often take minor roles of male characters.

Well, I play what I feel like to play at the time. It's only a game anyway, so I don't see a problem, really

I think you're right there. I guess most of the time people know that you would be a man playing a woman, or a woman playing as a man, but it's probably a bit more worrying when men pretend to be women both in game-world and real-life world.

I wouldn't excactly say it's worrying. Just suspicious. And the other way around, too? Women pretending to be guys? *shrug* In internet, noone knows that you're really a dog

lol! What a strange thread. It really depends what your talking about... On written Roleplays I'm always a guy ( So far), but in some videogames... it really depends. Games like Balder's Gate theres no difference so I play as a guy... But games like Diablo II the Amazon/Sorceress/Assassin are kick-ass classes. In some games the females have tons of great skills over the guys (Like Peach in SSBM). Either way, sometimes I play as a chick just for the heck of it. Anyways you were problally talking about written roleplays, but you got the whole deal....
Yea, youd like me to have a signature wouldn't you.

I like women as my main characters, but I have a few men tucked up my sleeve. It sometimes depends WHO I'm RPing with, and who their character is. Case of interaction.

Yeah E's occasionally plays a wolf as well.

I agree, but it would be pretty intresting to play as a girl.

Honestly it's something that has crossed my mind, but I don't see myself doing just because alot of my characters are in a way relfections of myself. Being a man, I don't roleplay as a woman.

I've played as both and there is really not any difference. It just depends on the game and which has the better advantages relating to "how" I want to play the character and what other characters I want to interact with. If it doesn't matter, then I normally just play a male.

i agree but i have an excuse type thing for that:

1.Men have high strengh
2.women have high intelligence

So what would you rather do, be male and smash into a box or be a female and lockpick it?

To be able to play either gender on a large multiplayer rp game (such as NWN can be (mainly only up to 60 players)) you get different experiences from people, being a guy play males more often then girls, but i've noticed when i play a female people treat you alot better and everything, it isn't really fair :(

Here's the way I look at online games... Statistics show that there are a larger number of males then females that play games. If you are seeing an equal number of female characters compared to male characters, then a decent portion of those players are likely to be male.

Be careful who you flirt with... It might be your buddy next door...

Those statistics of yours are probably right... and now I'm worried. *shudder*
