Unamrmed Combat because I have talons not really but tecnically putting talon like gloces on would not be a weapon.

Crossbow. It's quick and easy and it encourages people to not run. Either that or a make-shift club when an emergency calls for it.

Although bow and arrow or crossbow would be great, I would probably choose a lightweight sword... maybe a swashbuckling sword or somesuch. Quick, Agile, Deadly, Controllable, Lightweight, and good at disarming and such. Yea, thats my kind of weapon.

Colt .45 Peacemaker.

If we're talking in fantasy terms, Flambridge/Bow.

A staff. No-one knows it's coming, and then WHAM! I'll get you. Plus, it doubles as a handy walking staff and flotation device (not really! ^_^d).

Hehe... That reminds me of one of Mum's stories. Her mother and two sisters grew up in a migrant camp in Denmark after fleeing Latvia in World War 2. To entertain themselves, the kids used to play a game where you'd draw a target on the ground and try to throw a knife at the centre of it. Her mother thought that playing with knives was very dangerous, but didn't want to spoil their fun, so she gave them a screwdriver to play with instead...

I would much rather have a staff, because I like CQC, but not really close, and with a staff you get some range without having to get too close

Personally, i almost always go with a long knife and a sword, one in each hand, but sometimes I go Assasin with two knives and sometimes soldier with a short sword.

A knife or a halberd, a quick and brutal kill by surprise is the best way to go for me.

.... its hard to say, i prefer swords because they arre fast, and strong, crossbows, because they do long range, daggers/knives because they are stealthy and finaly, unarmed because i can you like... a pole i pick off the ground, or rocks or something... for me, the weapon has to be speed, whats the use of having a 1 hit kill if you cant hit?

I'd have to go with a sword, becuase if you use it right you're not forced to use brute strength when wielding it.

If forced to use historical weapons I'd go with two sais and control the fight by using them defensively to block and lock other weapons as their historical use was rather then offensively waving them around madly like daggers as seen in modern movies.

But in roleplays I like to vary from one character to the next and try to describe usage of different kinds of weapons.

You can use a heck of a lot of things for a weapon! In this one story I think I used a pencil... Those things are dangerous!

Give me a sword and some throwing knives... I'm good for the night. :)
Being able to use other weapons would be good, though.

I would have to say a samurie sword or a spear/scyth because i think they are cool. I'm not a big fan of staves or rods though.

Faster than a sword and deadlier than a bow, I say my throwing daggers which can be switched between a close combat to long range wtih little time to spare.

Although ineffective in some situations, I still like my bow ^^

I think it all depends on the Character.
Like if a mage were to use a sword, I don't think it would have any effect.
