World of Warcraft

Postby Ozental » Mon Jun 20, 2005 10:14 am

World of Warcraft is one of those games that has, and is, taking the gaming community by storm. Why is it so popular? Is it in the details of classes and races, or the multitude of professions, thousands of quests or excellent storyline? So my question is: are you one of the 1.5 million World of Warcraft players?

Sound like a good game but I really dont like the idea of paying to play at a game I have buyed. I doesnt even take a look at every online game for this only reason, when I buy I game I want to play with it freely.

Actually its 2 million now. I recently started. I have a lvl 14 female night elf hunter (kargath server), a male tauren warrior(scarlet crusade server), and a lvl7 undead mage(scarlet crusade).
I feel the change,
it's happening soon.
I look straight up,
it's a full moon.

I haven't bought the game yet, but me and Deshi plan to get it and share it. We used to play EverQuest, but there was no story line and no plot, and you were just wandering around killing things. You could pick up quests and what not, but there was no real flow to the game. WoW has all that and more. That is why I think it is so popular. There are even better graphics, so I'm told.

Yes, there are those nasty online fees after you buy the game, but how else are they supposed to be able to keep all those servers running in peak order and fix all the bugs that pop up along the way.

So I guess all of these negative comments re-paying for gaming applies to all online games that you have to pay for. So no FF-Online fans here, then I presume?

i'd like to play ff online, but when it first came out it was like $12/month or something ridiculus like that, if they were to drop the fee to like 4 or 5 $ month it'd be cool, but you think $50 for the game, and $12/month to play, i don't have that kind of $$. I could swing $4 or $5.

I agree with the most of the posts here. I don't want to pay for a game and then have to pay more after purchase in order to play it more 'in depth'. These types of games should be free to play with others as a multiplayer game after purchasing the software. I don't mind paying for upgrades for the software either. However, this is different than paying for an online game from the get go. I'm not talking about the ones where software needs to be installed on your computer or you need to own some registered copy, blah, blah, blah. There are some great games which are only able to be played online and the only thing you need is the money and an internet connection. I have played a couple of MUD's actually, which I have paid for. But, even then, there is a limit to what I will pay for. I will not pay for favors or special equipment.

Just my 2 cents!

Well, to all the people who say 'I bought the game why pay to play?' I say this, it is not easy nor cheap to keep a server running all the time, most people know that, so think about how many they would need to keep a game the size of WoW going. The $50, or whatever it is now, you pay for the game covers the making of the game, not the running costs. So I say if it is a good quality game and you can afford it, pay to play it. Not trying to insult anyone here, but saying I paid for the game why should I pay to play it online, is like asking why pay for the internet, I already bought a computer. That's just how I see it, anyway.

I'm afraid I'll have to agree with SC on this one. I would like to get it, but I don't have the money right now... I'm poor. But as soon as I get a job as a grave digger, I'll be fine.

Shadow Council is our main server, i have 9 characters He has 8 there. He has 2 60s on that one, i have 1 60 and 1 55.

then after that server we have at least 3 characters on each RP Server.

lv 26 night elf preist.... been playing it for about 5 months.... i don't play it that muchy. i don't see why people say it's addictive. you can get caught up playing it with the quests, but asides from that it's not an overly addictive game. it is pretty fun to play though. fill's up the spare time.

I used to play WoW a while back, but that was only because the game was purchased for me by my boyfriend (who was addicted at the time - neither of us play now), and then I got two of those two-month cards for the holidays. I can just never bring myself to pay for it :(

When I did play, though, I was Horde all the way. Female Undead Priest, shadow spec. Only got up to level 40-something, though. I was addicted to the battlegrounds, so I didn't get out to quest and bash much.
